This DMU doesn't seem particularly loud. There does seem to be a lot of overhead wires associated with it. I'm still looking for a DMU video with one set of tracks.
Last summer, my brother-in-law, Charles and I got up early and rode the Cape Cod trail from South Wellfleet to the start near Dennis (about 48 miles). In all the years I've been going to the Cape it was one of the nicest, most pleasant mornings I've spent on vacation. There was a wide range of ages on the trail and everyone (bikers, runners, and walkers) had big smiles on their face and lots of good endorphins going.
In a slightly more light-hearted vein - Maybe this is the DMU, the rail advocates are talking about:
The proposal is for DMU's on the eastside BNSF corridor. The rail advocates say they're as quiet as an air compressor. This one is quieter than I thought it was going to be (I'm not sure it's as smoke free as I was hoping. Maybe it's an old DMU):
So, they've been talking forever about the sale of the BNSF corridor which runs up and down the eastside in a north/south direction. The rail advocates' current proposal is that they use DMU's (Diesel Motor Units) because it's easy to modify the tracks. I went up on YouTube to see if they had any video's on DMU's. Here you go:
BTW - did I mention I love YouTube?
